1990s H.V. SHOURDS II Signed REDHEAD DUCK DECOY - Nice !

Description

This is a male redhead duck decoy carved by H.V. Shourds II (1930 - 2017), third-generation carver and grandson of one of the most revered American carvers, H.V. Shourds I (1861 - 1920). Shourds II lived and worked in Linwood NJ until his death in 2017.
Carved of New Jersey white cedar, it measures 14.5 inches in length. The inked signature is on the bottom. Although it is undated, I'd place it some time in the early 1990s, based on the fact that I got it as part of a collection of ducks carved by Jersey shore artists during that period.
Condition of the decoy is Excellent; wood and paint are in very good original condition. The only exception is on the left side of the head where there is some minor wear; see the 3rd and 6th photos.
