Description

Early 1903 Stock with Single Recoil Reinforcing Bolt w/ cartouche and Circled P and Finger Grooves
This is an early 1903 Stock with only a single recoil reinforcing bolt.
It is about 110 years old.
It has finger grooves which have sharp edges.
This indicates the stock was not sanded in a rebuild process.
Harrison classifies this stock as a Type 2.
It has a single cartouche that appears to be Conrad Nelson who Harrison writes was a Rock Island inspector circa ? -12.
The cartouche is hard to read because it is in script letters.
The stock has a circled P proof mark also in a script letter.
It is in excellent shape.
It has an "S" on the fore end indicating manufacture by Springfield Armory.  However, the cartouche indicates it was used on a Rock Island rifle.
