Description

Do you have a motorhome with a Freightliner chassis built after 2003? If so, are you wanting to install an electric trailer brake without hacking up your factory harness, or want to add a 12 volt accessory? I have your solution. Well, actually Freightliner does too, but at over 0 (maybe less now), theirs is just too costly. Don't believe me? Search the internet for their part number A06-65482000
I currently make a similar short pigtail for plugging into your motorhome's factory harness, allowing you to connect to your trailer brake module, and or, a 12 volt item that can be either energized with the key or without.
Don't just cut your factory wiring, that is unnecessary, and may eventually cause problems. Why waste time splicing and searching for power?
My pigtail specs:
Pin D   RED  12 volt positive unswitched power (always on when batteries are connected)
Pin E   BLACK 12 volt negative ground
Pin A   GREY  Signal from brake switch (activates brake module/ input)
Pin C   LIGHT BLUE Power to rear trailer connector from module (normally blue wire/output)
Pin F   PINK   12 volt switched/key on  (less amps for CB radio or smaller amp draw circuit)
Pin B   BROWN  Dash lights (for auxiliary dash lighting on a gauge or other illumination)
Let's say you want to hook up a trailer brake only, normally you will need pins D,E,A and C
Maybe just a CB radio, then I suggest pins E and F, or D and E.
How about a pyrometer for your EGTs ?  Use pins E and B will give the gauge power for back lighting.
You can do just about any combination you choose as long as you don't overload the circuits. According to Freightliner pin D is a 30 amp fused circuit.
Before ordering, check under your dash (near the steering column), and look for a black plastic rectangular plug that has 6 pin slots.
For an alternative color scheme, I can also build a close color match pigtail to match Tekonsha trailer brake colors. Please ask for this in the notes or memos when ordering.
Because of the slots in the plug, you can't hook it up wrong or backwards.
If you are unable to find the plug, call Freightliner to verify it is included on your chassis.  Also verify with them your pin outs, my experience is that this is universal, but there?s always a chance of yours being different.
