    Description

    ORIGINAL WORLD WAR TWO U.S. NAVY STADIMETER 1942.  This instrument was used to estimate the range of an object of known height by meauring the angle between the top & bottom of object.  The data plate on the wooden transit chest reads "STADIMETER U.S. NAVY BU.SHIPS 1942 SCHICK INCORPORATED STAMFORD CONN. USA".  The instrument looks to be in overall good condition but is missing the telescope & the mirror.  The brass cover on the battery box/handle does not stay in place (looks like it needs a screw with a larger head).  The wooden transit chest is complete but shows some age & wear with some cracks on the bottom and the joints coming loose at the sides.  The inside lid contains the adjustment instructions.  Overall it's not the best example going but it may be useful for parts or restoration.
